HC3 Community Projects Debbie has coordinated!
Hi, my name is Debbie Lueken. I currently teach Physical Education and Athletic Director at Morton High School. This is my 35th year of teaching and year number 3 as Athletic Director. I have done plenty of coaching throughout my teaching career. I have coached at all levels, middle school, high school and 1 year at the College level. I have coached Volleyball, Track, Softball, Cross Country and Basketball. Since becoming an Athletic Director, I have retired from coaching to concentrate on building a better Athletic Program for all sports at Morton High School. My emphasis has been to restore the history of our sports programs with All Sports banners listing the accomplishments over the years and restoring old photographs to be displayed on the walls in the Athletic area, as well as raising funds to improve our facilities.
As an Athletic Director, it was important for me to develop a professional relationship with the Hessville Business Community and act as a liaison between our high school students and the business community. I think it is extremely important for students to give back to their community through community service. I was honored to be selected as a Board member of HC3 two years ago. I am very active with Event Planning and community service projects. We really focused on 2 Hessville Clean-up dates in the Spring and Fall. Our students and athletes have been amazing by volunteering to help clean up the corridor of Kennedy Avenue, where many businesses reside. I think it is important for Businesses to see our student body take pride in their community. Many of the businesses have been willing to sponsor some of our Athletic events at Morton. It is a Win-Win for all. I am so honored to be a part of HC3 and have met so many people that really care about the Hessville Community. Although, I do not live in Hessville I have spent 33 years teaching in Hessville and take great pride in being a part of an amazing community.
